K-Beauty Masterclass at the National Museum of Australia

In February, KBeauty Australia founder Samantha Hallal was invited as a K-beauty expert to deliver a series of masterclasses at the National Museum of Australia, as part of the internationally recognised Hallyu! The Korean Wave exhibition.

With a PhD in Biochemistry and a Master of Teaching, Samantha brings a rare combination of scientific expertise and educational training to skincare. Her approach is grounded in one core belief. Skincare should make sense.

Across two 1.5-hour sessions on February 14 and 15, attendees were guided through a structured, education-led approach to K-beauty that focused not on trends, but on building routines that deliver real, long-term results.

The event was also featured by Her Canberra, recognising the growing demand for K-beauty education and highlighting Samantha as a leading voice in the space.

K-Beauty Is Everywhere. Understanding It Is Not

K-beauty has become one of the fastest-growing categories in skincare.

But as interest has grown, so has confusion.

It is often reduced to:

  • Multi-step routines
  • Viral products
  • The idea of achieving “glass skin” overnight

What is often missing is the foundation.

Real K-beauty is built on:

  • Supporting the skin barrier
  • Consistent hydration
  • Ingredient compatibility
  • Long-term skin health

Without this understanding, even the best products fail to deliver results.

This is the gap these masterclasses were designed to close.

What Attendees Actually Learned

Each session was designed to simplify skincare, not complicate it.

Samantha guided attendees through:

  • Live demonstrations showing how to correctly apply and layer products
  • A clear explanation of how key ingredients function within a routine
  • How to build personalised routines based on individual skin types and concerns, similar to our personalised skin quiz
  • The most common mistakes that lead to breakouts, irritation, or ineffective results

The focus was not on doing more.

It was on doing what works.

Because effective skincare is not built on trends. It is built on understanding.

In Partnership with Round Lab

These sessions were delivered in partnership with Round Lab, a leading Korean skincare brand known for its gentle, barrier-focused formulations.

This gave attendees the opportunity to:

  • Experience high-quality K-beauty formulations firsthand
  • Understand how products fit within a complete routine
  • Learn how formulation quality impacts long-term skin results

You can explore the Round Lab range used in the masterclass here.

Why This Moment Matters

Being invited by the National Museum of Australia as part of the Hallyu! The Korean Wave exhibition reflects a broader shift in the industry.

K-beauty is no longer niche.

It is shaping how people approach skincare globally.

At the same time, there is a clear shift in consumer behaviour. People are no longer satisfied with being told what to buy. They want to understand how to care for their skin properly.

Education is becoming just as important as the products themselves.

A Different Standard of Skincare Education

At KBeauty Australia, the focus is not just on products.

It is on building routines that are:

  • Personalised
  • Evidence-based
  • Easy to follow
  • Designed for long-term results

Backed by Samantha’s scientific and educational background, this approach removes the guesswork from skincare.

Instead of overwhelming people with options, it gives them clarity.

And that clarity is what leads to real results.

What Comes Next

Following the success of these sessions, KBeauty Australia will continue to expand its education initiatives across Australia.

Because when you understand your skin, everything changes.

You stop guessing.
You stop overcomplicating your routine.
And you start seeing results.
